Maintaining property for agricultural use only is a conservation outcome. Areas that would have been prone to development can be protected from this by placing a conservation easement on the property that limits its highest use to agriculture only. This means that property can be used as open space or agriculture but not for building of homes or businesses. GSLC maintains agricultural easements for many vineyards throughout northern California.
